College Application Workshops
An intensive two-day, eight-hour in-person (Zoom is an option) workshop will allow you (your student) to complete most tasks required for the college application before the senior year gets underway. Tasks include resume creation, essay development and editing, and application completion. See details of workshop content below.
Changing to a different session after registering will be accommodated if possible.
College Application Workshop Details
What we will accomplish:

Create a Common Application account. Finish the Profile, Family, Education, and Testing sections of Common Application (in other words, fully complete all parts of Common App)

Design a meaningful, story-telling resume/activities list to be used for the Common App Activities section.

Establish the main Common Application essay theme and create a draft essay

Complete the Courses & Grades section (required by some schools)

Identify topics/purpose of the Additional Information section of Common App – draft responses, if appropriate

Identify school-specific supplemental essays and explore ways to overlap them.

Understand the different ways that colleges get transcript information.

Create a Self-Reported Transcript (SSAR) account and learn how to input a transcript.

Determine whether test scores are required and what scores are needed to optimize admission possibilities.

If sending test scores, learn how to send official score reports from the College Board and ACT

Identify which teachers to ask for recommendations; learn how to generate recommendation requests on Common App
Note: The two individual Zoom sessions after the workshop must be completed by October 1st, 2024. Students are responsible for communicating, sending essay drafts, and scheduling Zoom appointments.
